Lucara Diamond, a Canadian diamond producer, discovered a 692.3 carat white gem diamond from Botswana’s Karowe Mine.
The diamond measuring 46.5 x 40.7 x 28.4 mm is described as a Type IIa high white gem and the 20th diamond larger than 100 carats discovered at Karowe, shortly follows the discovery of a 1,080 carat Type IIa white top gem earlier in this August, said Lucara Chief Executive Officer William Lamb.
Lucara Diamond is the 100 percent owner of Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana, which is situated in north-central Botswana, about 512 km from Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. The mine has been in production since 2012 and is the focus of the company’s operations and development activities.
