Harare: White Man Dies After Falling From A Room At Crowne Plaza Monomotapa Hotel

An unidentified man died early Thursday morning after apparently falling from a room at Crowne Plaza Monomatapa hotel in central Harare.

Witnesses said the 63-year-old Caucasian (white) man, believed to have been a guest at the hotel, died instantly on impact with the ground.

Hotel management declined to comment on the incident which police are now investigating, The Herald reported.

A huge crowd gathered at the scene as police removed the body after paramedics pronounced the man dead. A vendor who plies his trade near the hotel told The Herald:

I heard a loud thud and was shocked to find out that it was a man who had fallen from a hotel room.

I initially thought it was an electrical explosion.

The circumstances leading to the incident are still unclear as police investigations continue.

In a statement seen by Pindula News, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the incident happened at 8.30 am on Thursday 12 January 2023.

The statement also said that the man “jumped to death” from the 8th floor.
