India vs South Africa: Going to be an exciting contest between Virat Kohli and our pacers, says Aiden Markram

South Africa’s Aiden Markram has predicted an exciting contest between India’s Virat Kohli and the Proteas pacers on Sunday when both teams will lock horns in Perth. Markram also hopes the South African bowlers can exploit the extra bounce on offer at the venue.

South Africa batter Aiden Markram has said that it will be an exciting contest between Virat Kohli and the Proteas pacers when they take on India in the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday.

Both teams are currently on top of Group 2 with India having two wins to their name. South Africa, on the other hand, had their first game washed out with Zimbabwe and was forced to split the points.

The Proteas then got their first win on Thursday as they steamrolled Bangladesh by 104 runs with Rilee Rossouw scoring a magnificent hundred.

For India, Kohli has been in sparkling form as he first guided the team home in a thrilling chase against Pakistan and then scored a well-paced fifty in the second match against the Netherlands.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of the match, as quoted by ANI, Markram said that it would be an exciting contest between the star batter and the South African pace attack on Sunday. He went on to say that the Proteas’ fast bowlers love bowling to Kohli.

“It is going to be exciting. Our quicks love bowling to him. He has found form, but our bowlers are doing really well at the moment too,” said Markram.

The South African batter also said that he hopes that the bowlers will be able to exploit the extra bounce on offer in Perth.

“Perth is bouncier than other venues. Hope our bowlers can exploit,” said Markram.

Markram also opened up on his role in the batting order and said that he sees himself fitting somewhere between an aggressor and an anchor.

“If the top order fires, it becomes the role of carrying the momentum. If the team is in trouble, you steady the ship. I see myself fitting somewhere in between. Whatever the team needs when I am out in the middle is my focus mainly,” said Markram.
